Synopsis
Great composer Maurice Blackwell discovers the beautiful but untrained singer, Laurell Hillman. She leaves her overbearing family to train with Maurice and he devotes himself to her. She debuts to acclaim, but Laurell is wracked with self-doubt and can only sing with Maurice conducting. When they decide to marry, Maurice's friend Johnny warns Laurell that a great composer abandoning his career for her is to high a price. Laurell returns to her family. Her father sees her despair and unexpectedly supports her singing. She returns to her training and career. Maurice learns what has happened and attends her first solo concert. Laurell sings confidently and the couple reunite, with independent careers.
