Notes

For this reprint, the words 'And my tormented soul knew only a miracle could ever change things because…' have been deleted from the end of the introductory text above the title on page 1. On page 5 in the first panel, text has also been deleted: 'I was making a mockery of Peter Simms' sacred love for another woman!' Then Wendy is told Larry 'left town' rather than 'committed suicide' on account of Clair. Other references to suicide and 'time to pack off Mr. Travers' belongings' have been deleted, along with a sharp comment by his landlady, 'Be off with you! I've no time to spend on the likes of your kind!' On page 6, Wendy's angry outburst 'I hate you! I hate you!' about Claire has been deleted. The final page has extensive rewrites to avoid reference to Larry having a terminal heart problem, rather than committing suicide.
